New Music Weekend.
It's been a rather blah weekend. Waiting for the DS to arrive, hopefully tomorrow. As well as World of Warcraft. Also, jeff in shanghai has helped me secure a fake set of Ping Clubs. WOoohoo... fake u say? for what? Well its like 1/5th the price for a new set of IRONS, and I suck anyway, why waste money on a nice pro set.
In music news, I was having lunch at lao beijing with steph/shoomz/lionel when i decided to step into Music Junction to look for Paul Oakenfold Creamfields. I still have a copy reserved at That CD Shop, but i was lazy to go down.
Yay they had it as well as some other cd's.
1. Paul Oakenfold Creamfields
Seems to be sold out at a lot of places. It's that good huh?
Well I came home, sampled all my albums while importing them into iTunes. And yes, this is the album that stood out. It's good. It's ole Oakey style with new songs. Inside are some new hotties, as well as some old favorites. Typical Oakey mixing, and he has progressed on from his Bunka style. Which honestly I liked, but not many people did. This is standard creamfields trance, vocal trance mix. Good stuff.
High Replay value.
2. renaissance presents Dave Seaman & Phil K ( The Therapy Sessions )
Interesting to say the least. It's not chill, it's not trance. It's like a mix
of something in between. Does it work? Yeah, kinda. Something i'd listen to while I surf, or have people over and want to play something different in the background.
It's good. Different. And thats just Disc 1 (Seamans edit) Check out Trk 2 Disc1- Melburn - Luke Chable
Disc 2 is mixed by Phil K. Starts off with a nice melodic tune. smooths in the beats by the end of it, and track 2 gives you a hint of what lies in store for rest of the tracks. Music that makes you want to turn it up. Bass that trembles, Treble that crackles, Beats that bounce and vocals that screech.
This doesn't appeal to everyone i'm sure. But it sure is refreshing.
3. Renaissance The Mix Collection Sasha & John Digweed
Remastered 10th Anniversary Edition
This is a 3 disc re-release of the original "widely-hailed" Best Mix of all time.
It's nothing new. In fact, its so old that it may be new to those of you who just entered this genre of music. Oldies like Leftfield,Fluke,Sunscreem,EMF, Grace, Spooky grace the playlists. If you liked the old mixes's This is for you. I heard this back in the day, and I thought it was ok. I listen to it now and I think its a classic must get. If this is the 2nd Album you have to buy after Creamfields. Get this one.
4. Smoma - Songs to remember.
Kinda impulse buy as well as it gave me 10 percent off all my other cd's.
This is some italian jazzy/dancy trio who redoes many songs in this new album.
It's verrrrry easy listening.... The music is fine, her voice is fine. And it's tunes you've heard b4. Tunes like ; The Sweetest taboo, Sing it back, Summertime. But they do tend to really "jazz" it up a bit. More upbeat. You might like to sample this one rainer.
Well those are the 4 I got from Music Junction. I got 3 other cd's the other day.
Namely Bjork's Meddula, Jimmy eats world and BT's old album Emotional Technology.
I'll have to review the Bjork and jimmy one another day, it's still spinning in my car.
Still thinking of a name for the site. No Helpz?
